I should confess that I'm envious of those that are what I refer to as "hair chameleons." Some of my friends have a different hair colour or style each month and I'm jealous of them because I think of them as very brave. I've worn my hair in the same "style" for five years. I hesitate to refer to it as a style however because I think of it more as a lack of one. My hair is thick and long, and in my opinion just outright boring. I'm constantly thumbing through magazines and admiring celebrities and their beautiful, shiny, luxurious, perfect hair. So what makes us so different from them? Effort I suppose. I know that my hair looks terrific when it?s curled but I very seldom take the hour and a half to do it. The major thing is though, that when you hair looks great, you feel great. There is no better feeling than walking out of a salon after having your hair professionally done; you just know you and your hair look totally amazing. Your hair feels so lustrous and silky; it has movement and body. Every time even a slight breeze blows, you get a pleasant whiff of flowers or fruit. It is just a wonderful and amazing feeling to experience. If you are like me and have had the same boring haircut for waaaay too long, then it is time to consider your options.

Cut If your hair is very long and you just aren't brave enough to have it cut off into a shorter style, think about this: at the worst, you may think it looks terrible but that is irrelevant because nowadays you can purchase hair extensions that look just like your real hair. Maybe start small and get your hair cut a little bit at a time until it is at a length that you are comfortable with. Everyone needs a change every so often. Show your hairdresser pictures of celebrity cuts and styles you like, and ask which ones work well with your complexion and the shape of your face.

Colour One trend that has become super popular in recent years is Balayage evening dresses dresses, and it will be sticking around for a long time to come. It seems to suit everyone and there are many different variations of Balayage. For those of you who don?t know what Balayage is; it is a colouring technique developed by the French in the 70s which involves the hairdresser applying the colour by hand as opposed to the painful highlighting cap or traditional foils. Colours vary and it can be used on any length of hair. It is ultra fashionable and produces a look that is multi faceted and gives the illusion of having sun kissed hair. It is a relatively low maintenance style as you don?t need to go back to the hairdresser to get it touched up or get your roots fixed. It might look a little bit messy, but that is deliberate and a style choice anyone can get away with discount dresses! You may choose to have natural appearing highlights. Then again, you may opt for contrasting colours that give you that "rock and roll" look. Once again, pick out some pictures out of magazines that you like and take them with you.

Fringe We are fortunate enough to live in a time when options are endless. You don?t even need to get your hair cut anymore if you want a fringe. You can buy fringes created from authentic human hair, customized to match your specific hair colour. You can buy different types of fringes, such as wispy, side parted, or blunt style. You can rest assured there is at least one style available that will suit you. These options allow you to have one look during the work week and then a different look when the weekend comes around. Being able to change whenever is a great option, because I find a fringe to be annoying when playing sports or working out at the gym, so the fringe that detaches works out perfectly.

You know what people…at the end of the day it is just hair. It will grow back. Live it up!

Everyone knows what it feels like to be in a rut, trapped in a pattern of circumstances that we cannot escape. Rarely do those circumstances change by themselves, it's more likely that we will need to take action to ensure that we don't become stuck in a rut.
